Saint Nicodemus was born in Naxos in 1749 AD. He got a higher education at the Greek School of Smyrna and in 1775 AD; then, he moved to Mount Athos where he became a monk at the Saint Dionysios’ Monastery and lived a monastic life. He was an ascetic monk, mystic, theologian, and philosopher. Saint Nicodemus is one of the most important spiritual forms of New Hellenism with a huge work of writing. He died from hemiplegia in 1809 AD, in Mount Athos. Saint Nicodemus celebrates on July 14th.
