Saint Seraphim of Sarov was born in Kursk, Russia in 1759. At a young age he went to the Sarov desert to live an ascetic life. He was ordained a deacon and later a priest. He became known for his spiritual admonitions and miracles. Saint Seraphim of Sarov celebrates on January 2nd.
