Saint Sofronios of Essex was born in Russia in 1896 AD. Αt the age of 30 he decided to become a monk on Mount Athos, at the Russian Monastery of Saint Panteleimon. The saint stayed on Mount Athos for more than 20 years, while on 1963 he established an Orthodox Monastery at Essex of England. Saint Sofronios wrote several books and died in 1993. His memory is celebrated on the 11th of July.
