Hand painted icon of Virgin Mary Giatrissa, made on Mount Athos, on wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
The story of the icon begins in Loutraki, where a woman named Maria, who was a midwife, returning from Jerusalem, took with her an icon of Virgin Mary. This icon depicted Virgin Mary holding the infant in the left hand. The woman donated the icon to her friend Maria Sokou. Twenty days later, the woman died, as she had predicted. Later, Maria Sokou and the inhabitants of Loutraki, who loved the icon, built the first temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Giatrissa. More about Virgin Mary Giatrissa.
