The miraculous icon of Archangel Michael of Mantamados was painted at the Taxiarches Monastery near Mandamado, Lesvos, during the 10th to 11th century, by a novice monk, named Gabriel. Archangel Michael of Mantamados saved miraculously the monastery twice from the raids of the Saracens pirates. His image is rescued till today, preserving its first liveliness and doing many miracles.
