As a bishop in Illyricum, Eleutherios promoted the cause of Christianity with the adroitness of a seasoned campaigner. He witnessed the beheading of his mother, Anthia, during Severus times. He is considered to be the protector of the infants. Saint Eleutherios celebrates on December 15th.
