Rose (Rosa Damascena) Holy Monastery of St. Athanasius
The name of the genus rosa comes from the greek word "rodon" meaning red as the roses in ancient Greece were red and mythology took their color from the blood of the goddess Aphrodite. The Rose of Damascus or Damascene Rose as is known in Europe is grown extensively for its many useful properties.
Beneficial properties: During constipation, tonsillitis and afthon, antiseptic, antibiotic, relieves the stress and helps in insomnia, headaches and in the dizzy while doing good in cases of depression (antidepressants), emmenagogue.
Use: In one liter of water has just boiled, after we pull it from the fire, add two teaspoons of rose petals and cover for ten minutes. The strain and drink 2 - 4 cups of tea a day.
