Saint Nicholas was born in the 3rd century AD in Patara, Lycia. He was Archbishop of Myron and took part in the first Ecumenical council. Many miracles occurred while he lived, but also after when he died in 330 AD. He is considered patron saint of the seamen. Saint Nicholas celebrates on December 6th. The icon depicts the miracle of the resurrection of a sailor.
