The Presentation took this name because the Holy Theotokos, who comes from the genus of Jesse, the father of David. Theotokos is enthroned, holding Jesus Christ in her arms and tree branches spread around her. On the branches we see the prophets who had prophesied in the Old Testament, while Jesse rests at the bottom of the tree.
