I also highly recommend this cookbook and agree with Alexandra on every comment she made.
The meals are simple, easy to prepare and taste great, we are very impressed with the recipes. Look forward to the next one and would love to see a DVD.

I would highly, and warmly recommend this cookbook.
It is packed with amazingly delicious recipes of fish, seafood and vegetables that the monks of the Holy Mt. Athos (Greece) have been following for centuries. They have their own secrets and ways to prepare this kind of meals, as it is known, they do not consume meat. Not surprisingly, a 10-year study has revealed unbelievable low rates of cancer, Alzheimer's and heart disease among the fathers.
The book itself is attractive, with hardcover, good quality paper and colour illustrations. As a bonus, the book contains notes on the lifestyle of the brotherhood of the Holy Mountain, monastic proverbs and other interesting historical data.
On top of all this, I was most impressed also with the philosophy of this book: think of the loved ones you cook for, during (and even before) the meal preparation ...the food will taste better. Quite true! --- "I hope that the book you hold in your hands, apart from the assistance on the recipes, helps you to get even closer to those you love, through cooking. Open up your homes, invite your friends, cook together, set the table..."
I have many international cookbooks, written by well-known chefs, but this is one of the best I came across.
