Saint Gerasimos from Jordan was born in Lycia in the 5th century A.D. in a pious family. While he was a child, he developed deep love for Jesus Christ, but in young age, he embraced the sect of the Monophysites for a short period of time. Soon he came back to Christianity. In the 451 A.D., Saint Gerasimos became a monk in the desert of Jordan. Also, it is said that he had two faithful servants; a donkey and a lion. Saint Gerasimos slept in peace and his memory is honored on March 4.
