Hand painted icon of Saint Dymphna, made in Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
Saint Dymphna, was born in Ireland and was the daughter of a pagan king
and a christian mother, according to tradition. When she was 14 years
old, her mother died and her father lost his mind. He suffered from
mental illness and harassed sexually his daughter. Saint Dymphna decided
to flee to Belgium with her confessor father, St. Gerebernus. However,
her father sent soldiers and they found them at Gheel. The king
travelled there and begged Dymphna to return to Ireland with him, but
she refused strongly. Then, the father ordered to decapitate Saint
Dymphna and slay father Gerebernus. Saint Dymphna is the patron saint of
those who suffer from mental illnesses and her feast day is on May 15.
