Saint Irene was coming from Cappadocia. Although she was asked in marriage by a famous man of the Byzantine Palace, she refused, and she moved to the Chrysovalantou Monastery to live a monastic life. Later, she became Abbot of the Monastery. Saint Irene celebrates on July 28th.
