Hand painted icon of Saint Sophia, made in Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
Saint Sophia and her three daughters lived in Rome, during the years of Emperor Hadrian (117 – 138 AD) and were distinguished for their morality and piety. When her husband died, Saint Sophia decided to settle in Rome with her daughters, where their devotion and love for the Lord Jesus Christ soon became known. The emperor was informed about the case of the Christian mother and the three girls and asked for their arrest. First, they isolated the mother, and then began questioning her daughters, Faith, Hope and Charity. The girls remained steadfast in their faith and were eventually martyred by beheading. Saint Sophia buried her daughters and remained for three days in their graves, begging God to take her to him. Their memory is commemorated on September 17.
