The Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra maintains on the island of Lemnos, in the village of Propouli, a historical monastery dependency from the 14th century, which is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. In the sanctuary of Sacred Metochi, built by the Monk of Simonos Petra monastery, Agapios in 1706 AD, the miraculous sacred icon of Virgin of the Vine is kept. Virgin of the Vine is especially loved by all the island\'s inhabitants.
The sacred icon has done many miracles, which are testified by the inhabitants of the island to this day. The image protects with great devotion small children who have health issues. Let us not overlook, of course, that this sacred image is an excellent example of ecclesiastical iconography, where the Virgin is depicted in white instead of red veil. This fact is extremely rare and proves the protection of the Virgin Mary on the island. The inhabitants, when they accept her miracles, recognize her from the white veil as the Virgin of their region.
