Silver icon with the Church of the Resurrection. Handmade silver icon on natural wood, made with 925ο silver with local 22K gold plating. The natural wood used for the synthesis of the icon is beech (fagus) from Mount Athos, a wood that is receptive to aging techniques that give the appearance of vintage to the wood, without altering the depicted image.
The depictions of faces, hands, halos or other representations are depicted in excellent quality and clarity silkscreen with "vivid" colors. The silver frame of the icon is held by nails to resemble the original icons. On the back side, the icon has a small metal ring made of horseshoe nails so that it can be hung.
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, also known as the Church of the Resurrection, is located at the center of Old Jerusalem and is considered the holiest site in Christianity. It encompasses the Calvary, where Jesus was crucified, and His empty Tomb, where He was buried and resurrected. The original church was built by Saint Helen in the 4th century, replacing a pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Venus. Despite the numerous conflicts and destructions that the church has endured throughout the centuries, scholars believe it occupies the most likely location of both the Crucifixion and the Tomb of Jesus Christ. The present church was renovated in 1810, is carved into rock, adorned with marble and illuminated by lamps. It is also the seat of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
