Silver icon with the Holy Trinity. Handmade silver icon on natural wood, made with 925ο silver with local 22K gold plating. The natural wood used for the synthesis of the icon is beech (fagus) from Mount Athos, a wood that is receptive to aging techniques that give the appearance of vintage to the wood, without altering the depicted image.
The depictions of faces, hands, halos or other representations are depicted in excellent quality and clarity silkscreen with "vivid" colors. The silver frame of the icon is held by nails to resemble the original icons. On the back side, the icon has a small metal ring made of horseshoe nails so that it can be hung.
The depiction of the Holy Trinity was influenced by western art during the late Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods. It portrays God the Father as an elderly figure with white hair and beard, Jesus Christ, the Son, to His right and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove hovering between Them. In Orthodox Christian art, however, the Father is not depicted, as He did not incarnate, and each person of the Holy Trinity is the entire God. The faith in the Holy Trinity is a central doctrine of Orthodoxy, presenting God as three persons—united, undivided and consubstantial. Nonetheless, in the Old Testament, within the vision of Daniel, as recorded in his prophetic book (Dan. 7:9-10), God is referred to as the «Ancient of Days». Thus, Jesus is sometimes depicted as an elderly figure in the «Ancient of Days» model, representing the Father in a symbolic portrayal of eternity, though He is most often depicted as young, signifying His incarnation. The Holy Trinity is also represented in the Hospitality of Abraham, with the appearance of three angels.
