The material of the icon is composed of a special, durable metal alloy, impregnated with pure silver 999. The special treatment using the PVD method, as well as the excellent quality silkscreen printing according to the standards of Byzantine iconography, create the final result of the image that remains unchanged over time. The icons of this series can be hung on the wall and stand on a flat surface.
The story of the icon begins in Loutraki, where a woman named Maria, who was a midwife, returning from Jerusalem, took with her an icon of Virgin Mary. This icon depicted Virgin Mary holding the infant in the left hand. The woman donated the icon to her friend Maria Sokou. Twenty days later, the woman died, as she had predicted. Later, Maria Sokou and the inhabitants of Loutraki, who loved the icon, built the first temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Giatrissa.
