Monastic icon with Saint Irene Chrysovalantou made in the Holy Monastery of the Athonite Fathers with the method of pyrography. The icon is hand painted on marine grade plywood.
Dimensions: 16 x 21 cm.

Saint Irene was coming from Cappadocia. Although she was asked in marriage by a famous man of the Byzantine Palace, she refused, and she moved to the Chrysovalantou Monastery to live a monastic life. Later, she became Abbot of the Monastery. Saint Irene celebrates on July 28th.
