Silver icon with Saint Photini. Handmade silver icon on natural wood, made with 925ο silver with local 22K gold plating. The natural wood used for the synthesis of the icon is beech (fagus) from Mount Athos, a wood that is receptive to aging techniques that give the appearance of vintage to the wood, without altering the depicted image.
The depictions of faces, hands, halos or other representations are depicted in excellent quality and clarity silkscreen with "vivid" colors. The silver frame of the icon is held by nails to resemble the original icons. On the back side, the icon has a small metal ring made of horseshoe nails so that it can be hung.
Saint Photini came from the Samaritan city of Sychar and every noon she went outside the city to fill her pitcher at the water well. One day, she met Jesus Christ, Who revealed to her all of her life! The Lord told the Photini that He is "the water of life", that is, the inexhaustible source of the Holy Spirit. The Lord gave this "spiritual water" to the Samaritan woman, who was baptized a Christian and named Photini. From that moment on, the Saint dedicated herself to spreading the Gospel. When the emperor Nero (54 – 68 AD) learned that Saint Photini had converted the daughter of Domnina and some of her slaves into Christians, he ordered the saint's martyrdom. Her memory is honored on February 26.
