Monastic icon with Saint Sophia and her Daughters Agape, Pisti, Elpida made in the Holy Monastery of the Athonite Fathers with the method of pyrography. The icon is hand painted on marine grade plywood.
Dimensions: 16 x 25 cm.

Saint Sophia and her three daughters Agape, Pisti and Elpida (Charity, Faith and Hope) lived in Rome during the years of Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD). They were distinguished for their morals and piety. The three girls martyred and they were beheaded. Saint Sophia died after she buried her children. Saints Sophia, Faith, Hope and Charity celebrate on September 17th.
