Saint Alypios came from Edirne in Paphlagonia and grew up in a pious, Christian family. The Saint spent all his wealth on poor and suffering fellow humans, until he finally became very poor. He soon retired to the desert, where he lived an ascetic life. It is said that he stayed on a pole for 50 years under very difficult conditions. Saint Alypios slept in peace in the year 608 AD. He celebrates on November 26.
