The monks of the Vatopedi Monastery cultivate the olive trees in the monastery's olive groves with pure methods, following innovative production processes that respect the environment and the trees, such as composting the remains of the olive press. The fathers do not use any chemical fertilizers and for this reason they can offer us the organic extra virgin monastery olive oil.
The monks of the Monastery patiently complete the olive harvest with traditional manual labor in the centuries-old olive grove that hosts 4000 olive trees and then produce the pure virgin olive oil in the Monastery's modern olive press, applying only mechanical cold-pressing methods.
The olive oil appears cloudy at low temperatures, but it takes only a few hours to "melt" back when placed to room temperature. It does not affect its quality. Keep in a cool and shady place.
