Silver icon with the presentation that shows the Fiery Ascension of the Prophet Elijah. Handmade silver icon on natural wood, made with 925ο silver with local 22K gold plating. The natural wood used for the synthesis of the icon is beech (fagus) from Mount Athos, a wood that is receptive to aging techniques that give the appearance of vintage to the wood, without altering the depicted image.
The depictions of faces, hands, halos or other representations are depicted in excellent quality and clarity silkscreen with "vivid" colors. The silver frame of the icon is held by nails to resemble the original icons. On the back side, the icon has a small metal ring made of horseshoe nails so that it can be hung.
The Fiery Ascension of the Prophet Elijah is one of the most dramatic and miraculous events of the Old Testament. Prophet Elijah, hailing from Tishbe in Gilead, was destined from a young age for his prophetic mission, as foretold by the divine vision witnessed by his father. Throughout his great course, he fervently battled against the idolatry promoted by Queen Jezebel. At the end of his earthly life, Elijah was taken up to heaven while still alive with a chariot of fire drawn by three flaming horses. This event took place on the banks of the Jordan River in the presence of his disciple Elisha. The Church commemorates the Prophet Elijah on July 20th.
