Short life of Saints Peter and Paul
Saint Peter the Apostle was one of the most devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. A simple and hardworking man, he worked as a fisherman in Galilee before encountering the Lord. This encounter profoundly changed his life and set him on a new spiritual path. The love and trust he showed toward Christ distinguished him among the disciples. Although, in a moment of fear, he denied knowing the Lord, he later repented deeply and remained faithful until the end of his life. The experience of the Resurrection strengthened him and transformed him into a bold preacher of the Gospel.
After the Pentecost, Saint Peter devoted himself entirely to the proclamation of the Christian message. He travelled to many regions, strengthening the early Christian communities and helping countless people come to know the faith in Christ. His mission was accompanied by persecution, trials and suffering, all of which he endured with courage and unwavering faith. In the tradition of the Church, Saint Peter is honoured as one of the foremost Apostles, playing a decisive role in the foundation and spread of the Church. He is also traditionally regarded as the author of two Catholic Epistles, in which he encourages believers to remain steadfast in times of trial and to live according to the will of God. The Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Peter the Apostle on 29 June, together with Saint Paul the Apostle.
Paul was born in Tarsus, Cilicia. Initially, he was a cruel persecutor of Christianity. His conversion occurred in 36 AD, when a miracle happened and Christ was revealed in front of him. He was beheaded in 66 or 68 AD. Paul is considered to the first Christian theologian after the One. Saint Peter and Paul celebrate on June 29th.
