Silver-plated icon with Virgin Mary of Potchaev or Panagia of the Sole or Panagia Pelmatos. The theme of the Christian icon is depicted with great clarity and rich detail, while impressive, embossed, Byzantine designs cover the entire surface of the icon. The material of the icon is composed of a special, durable metal alloy, impregnated with pure silver 999. The special treatment using the PVD method, as well as the excellent quality silkscreen printing according to the standards of Byzantine iconography, create the final result of the image that remains unchanged over time. The icons of this series can be hung on the wall and stand on a flat surface.
The miraculous icon of our Lady of Pochaev is enshrined in the Holy Monastery of Pochaev, one of the most significant centers of Orthodox Christianity in western Ukraine. Its name derives from the appearance of the Theotokos in the year 1240. According to tradition, the Virgin Mary stood upon a stone, leaving the imprint of Her foot, which remains visible to this day. This holy site has become a place of pilgrimage due to the healing water with its beneficial properties that flows from the rock.The first written reference to the monastery dates back to 1527, though its foundation is attributed to monks who fled the Mongol invasion three centuries earlier. Some historical accounts also link the monastery to some monks from Mount Athos.
