Silver icon with Saint Athanasius the Great. Handmade silver icon on natural wood, made with 925ο silver with local 22K gold plating. The natural wood used for the synthesis of the icon is beech (fagus) from Mount Athos, a wood that is receptive to aging techniques that give the appearance of vintage to the wood, without altering the depicted image.
The depictions of faces, hands, halos or other representations are depicted in excellent quality and clarity silkscreen with "vivid" colors. The silver frame of the icon is held by nails to resemble the original icons. On the back side, the icon has a small metal ring made of horseshoe nails so that it can be hung.
A Brief Life of Saint Athanasius the Great
Saint Athanasius the Great was born in Alexandria around 295 AD. From an early age, he displayed both a remarkable love of learning and a deep devotion to Christ. Raised in a Christian family, he dedicated himself to the study of theology and to the service of the Church. As a young man, he became a close associate of Patriarch Alexander of Alexandria and stood by his side when the teachings of Arius, which denied the full divinity of Christ, began to spread. Through his theological insight and steadfast faith, Athanasius played a decisive role in defending Orthodox doctrine at the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. Following the death of Patriarch Alexander, Athanasius succeeded him as Patriarch of Alexandria. He devoted his life to leading the Church and safeguarding the Orthodox faith. Despite his immense contribution, he faced fierce opposition, false accusations, and repeated periods of exile. Yet even in these trials, he remained unwavering in his defence of the faith and never abandoned his mission. Saint Athanasius reposed in 373 AD. Revered as one of the greatest Fathers and defenders of the Orthodox Church, he is commemorated on 18 January.
