Handmade wooden iconography of Saint Cuthbert of Lindisfarne, made on Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
Saint Cuthbert is depicted frontally, in bust form, against a golden background. He is dressed in a dark blue vestment adorned with delicate details and wears a cross on his chest. With his right hand he gives a blessing, while in his left hand he holds an ornate Gospel, a symbol of the faith.
Saint Cuthbert was born around 635 AD into a wealthy family in Northumbria. From an early age he was educated both in the Christian faith and in martial skills, as was customary for his social class. A decisive moment in his life was a visionary experience in his youth, which led him to dedicate himself to monastic life at the monastery of Melrose. He served as abbot and later as Bishop of Lindisfarne, developing strong pastoral and missionary activity in remote regions. He was distinguished for his love for people and for his gifts of healing and spiritual guidance. Shortly before the end of his life, he returned to his hermitage, where he reposed in 687 AD. His reputation for holiness was strengthened both during his lifetime and after his death, as many miracles were attributed to him. His holy relics became a place of pilgrimage and contributed to the spread of his veneration. He is regarded as the patron saint of Northumbria and is commemorated on March 20 and September 4.
