Hand painted icon of Righteous Ruth and Naomi the Prophets, made in Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
Naomi, a Judean woman, moved to Moab with her husband Elimelech and their two sons due to famine. After her husband and her sons died, Naomi returned to Bethlehem with her loyal Moabite daughter-in-law, Ruth. Naomi, bitter and grief-stricken, initially urged Ruth to remain in Moab, but Ruth insisted on staying in Bethlehem, expressing deep devotion. Back in Bethlehem, Ruth gleaned in the fields of Boaz, a relative of Elimelech, who showed her kindness and protection. Boaz redeemed Elimelech's land and married Ruth to preserve the family lineage. Ruth bore a son, Obed, whom Naomi lovingly cared for. Ruth is among the five women listed in the lineage of Jesus Christ recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, along with Tamar, Rahab, the “wife of Uriah” (Bathsheba), and Mary the grandmother of David.
