Why Christ is called the Lamb?
Jesus Christ is known as the Lamb because the Prophet Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would be brought to His sacrificial death in the same way a gentle, blameless lamb is led to slaughter. This prediction was affirmed by Saint John the Baptist, who, when introducing the Messiah to his followers, declared: "Behold, the Lamb of God" (John 1:29).
