Silver icon with Saint John the Theologian. Handmade silver icon on natural wood, made with 925ο silver with local 22K gold plating. The natural wood used for the synthesis of the icon is beech (fagus) from Mount Athos, a wood that is receptive to aging techniques that give the appearance of vintage to the wood, without altering the depicted image.
The depictions of faces, hands, halos or other representations are depicted in excellent quality and clarity silkscreen with "vivid" colors. The silver frame of the icon is held by nails to resemble the original icons. On the back side, the icon has a small metal ring made of horseshoe nails so that it can be hung.
A Brief Life of Saint John the Theologian
Saint John the Theologian and Evangelist was born in Bethsaida of Galilee and was the son of Zebedee and Salome. In the early part of his life, he followed Saint John the Forerunner, but soon after encountering Christ, he became one of His closest disciples. Among the Twelve Apostles, he stood out for his close relationship with the Lord and was present at major events such as the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, the Last Supper and the Crucifixion. At the Cross, Christ entrusted him with the care of the Virgin Mary, which he accepted with great love and devotion. After Pentecost, he dedicated himself to preaching the Gospel, especially in Ephesus, where he helped many people come to the Christian faith. Because of his ministry, he was exiled to the island of Patmos by Emperor Domitian, where, according to tradition, he received the Revelation. Later he returned to Ephesus and continued his work until the end of his life. The Church commemorates him on September 26. He is known as the “disciple of love,” as the central message of his teaching is love for God and for humanity.
