Silver-plated icon with Virgin Mary Gerontissa, in a wooden frame. The theme of the Christian icon is depicted with great clarity and rich detail, while impressive, embossed, Byzantine designs cover the perimetre of the icon. The material of the icon is composed of a special, durable metal alloy, impregnated with pure silver 999. The special treatment with the PVD method, as well as the excellent quality silkscreen printing according to the standards of Byzantine iconography, create the final result of the icon that remains unchanged over time. The holy icon of Virgin Mary "Gerontissa" is found in the Holy Monastery of Pantocrator and is the main icon of the Monastery. The tradition says that it is a gift of Byzantine emperor Alexius A' Komnenos to the monastery.
