Orthodox Blessing Cross Handmade on Mount Athos

Handmade wooden blessing cross made of pear wood in the Holy Cell of the Dormition of Theotokos on Mount Athos. In the center of the cross is depicted the Crucifixion of the Lord with Jesus Christ on the Cross of Martyrdom, the Virgin Mary on the left and Saint John on the right. Above the scene of the Crucifixion is the Byzantine Double-Headed Eagle. Under Adam's head, the vine has been carved along with an cob of wheat, as they are integral parts of the liturgical life of our Church. All the details have been carved reverently and with great patience by the fathers on the Garden of Virgin Mary.
