Cake with Cherry Marmelade

Ingredients:
200 g. of vegetable butter
1,5 tea cup of sugar
Peels of a lemon
500 g. of flour
1 tea spoon of baking powder
500 g. of cherry marmalade
1 tea cup of chopped almonds
Caster sugar

Instructions:
Mix the butter with the sugar. Add the lemon peels and then the flour with the baking powder. Butter a baking pan. Split the mixture in two pieces. Put the first piece in the baking pan and crumble it to be like breadcrumbs by using your fingers. In the other piece add the almonds. Spread the marmalade on it and cover it with the rest of the mixture in the same way. Bake the cake in 200 degrees for 50-60 minutes. As soon as it is cold enough, sprinkle it with some caster sugar.

Wash and clean the octopus well, put it in a pan with a little water and let it boil over low heat. Mix it occasionally. When the octopus is tender, cut its tentacles in 2 or 3 pieces. Peel the garlic and the onions and wash them. Chop the onions and sauté them in oil over low heat until they brown. Then, add the cloves of garlic, the pieces of the octopus, the wine, the bay leaves and the black pepper.

Eldress Galaktia of Crete: Prayer to our Lord

Eldress Galaktia of Crete: Prayer to our Lord

«Lord, grant me only humility and silence. I ask nothing else from You. Humility births love for all Your creations. I know that I am the greatest sinner, and no one else in the universe has embittered You as much as I, the despicable one, have. Help me to live with this every day. Do not let the devil fool me into thinking I am something when I am nothing. Grant me only to feel how sinner I am and help me to follow Your commandments to find mercy from Your countless love. Do not let me despair because of my sins but let me rejoice every day because You have mercy on me and will save me because You are compassionate. Do not let me have evil thoughts or judge my fellow human beings. I am to blame for them, and since I am the cause of their sin, I must only judge myself. Lord, Lord, do not deprive me of the river of Your divine mercy. Amen!».
