Chalice Sets

The priests in Orthodox Church use the Holy Chalice to place the Offertory, that is the body and the blood of Jesus Christ. Chalice symbolizes the cup that Jesus Christ used in the Last Supper. During the Holy Liturgy, the priest mixes wine with a little bit of water, in order to bless and transmute it into the blood of Jesus Christ. The wine and the water symbolize the blood and the water that ran from the body of Our Lord while He was on the Cross of Calvary. In our collection you can find gold-plated or nickel-plated Holy Cup, Disk, Asterisk, Spear and Tweezers.

Frequent Questions & Answers

  • What does the Holy Chalice symbolize and what is its purpose?

The Holy Chalice, also known as the Holy Grail or Holy Cup, according to ecclesiastical tradition, is the sacred vessel used by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper. The same tradition holds that it later came into the possession of Joseph of Arimathea, who collected in it the blood and sweat of Christ as he was being taken down from the Cross. For this reason, the Holy Chalice acquired profound symbolic significance and is regarded as one of the most important sacred symbols of Christianity. Find here all the Chalices we have in our collection.

  • What does the Chalice contain during the Divine Liturgy?

The Holy Chalice stands out among the other sacred vessels, as it holds the Holy Body and the Precious Blood of Christ. The faithful receive Holy Communion from the chalice during the Eucharist.
