How are bones placed in the reliquary?
The placement of bones inside the reliquary is carried out according to ecclesiastical traditions. After exhumation, the bones are cleansed with water and wine and carefully placed in a reliquary lined with fabric, usually red velvet. This procedure is performed upon the request of the relatives and under the supervision of the competent authority, accompanied by the priest’s prayer. The reliquary is then kept either in the ossuary or reburied in the grave so that the deceased remain together.
